What StoryPeek Does (and Doesn't Do)

StoryPeek lets you look up a public Instagram profile and view or download its publicly available content. We only work with public accounts. If an account is private, we cannot access it and the tool will not work for that profile.

We do not require you to log in, and we never ask for or collect Instagram login credentials. You do not need an Instagram account to use StoryPeek at all.

Viewing public content through StoryPeek is anonymous from the account owner's perspective. We do not interact with their account on your behalf, and the owner is not notified that their public content was viewed through our tool. (We cannot promise anything about how Instagram itself logs traffic on its own platform — that is outside our control.)

We do not host the media. When you view or download a story, reel, post, or photo, that media streams directly from Instagram's own servers and content delivery network. StoryPeek does not keep copies of images or videos on our infrastructure.

Information We Process

We have deliberately kept the data we touch to a minimum. Here is everything involved.

Searches and lookups: When you enter a username or profile link, we send a request to retrieve that profile's public information from Instagram. We do not require you to identify yourself to do this, and your searches are not tied to a personal account or profile with us — because there is no account.

Cached public profile data: To reduce load on our servers and on Instagram, and to make repeat lookups faster, we temporarily cache the public profile JSON we retrieve. This cached data is stored in Cloudflare KV (a key-value store) for roughly 10 to 30 minutes, after which it expires automatically. This cache contains the public profile information returned by Instagram; it does not contain any login data and it does not include the media files themselves.

Server logs, IP address, and technical data: Like virtually all websites, our servers and our hosting/CDN provider (Cloudflare) automatically receive standard technical information when you make a request — such as your IP address, browser type (user agent), and timestamps. We use this transiently for operating the service, applying rate limits, and preventing abuse, spam, and automated scraping. We do not use it to build profiles of individual users.

No media storage: As noted above, we do not store the photos, videos, stories, reels, or downloads you view. They come straight from Instagram.

Data Retention

We keep data for as short a time as is practical.

Cached public profile JSON expires automatically after approximately 10 to 30 minutes and is then removed from the Cloudflare KV store.

Technical logs and IP-related data used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention are kept only transiently — for short operational windows — and are not retained to track or identify individuals over time. Our hosting and security provider may retain some standard request logs according to their own policies for security and reliability purposes.

Media files are never stored, so there is nothing to retain there.

We do not maintain user accounts, search histories tied to your identity, or long-term databases of who looked up what.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

StoryPeek itself does not require advertising or tracking cookies to function. Some cookies or similar technologies may be set in the following situations.

Analytics: We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate usage — for example, how many people visit and which features are used. This analytics is designed to avoid invasive tracking and to avoid building individual user profiles.

Advertising: We display third-party ads (see the section below), and ad networks may set their own cookies or use similar technologies as part of serving and measuring ads.

Essential/operational: Our security and CDN provider may set strictly necessary cookies needed to operate and protect the site (for example, to apply rate limits or block abuse).

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking non-essential cookies should not prevent the core profile-viewing features from working.

Advertising and Third-Party Services

StoryPeek is free to use and is supported by advertising. We work with third-party ad networks, currently including Adsterra and Monetag. These networks serve ads on our pages and may collect or receive certain information (such as your IP address, device and browser information, and cookie identifiers) to deliver and measure those ads. This data is handled under the ad networks' own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

We also rely on third-party infrastructure providers to run the service, including Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, security, rate-limiting, and the temporary KV cache described above. The media you view comes from Instagram's own servers and CDN.

We do not sell your personal information.

Consent for EEA and UK visitors: If you are visiting from the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies and personalized/measured advertising technologies are used, in line with applicable privacy and electronic-communications law. You can decline, and you can change your choice later through the consent controls provided on the site.

Your Searches Are Not Tied to Your Identity

Because StoryPeek has no login and no user accounts, the profiles you look up are not linked to a personal identity or stored profile with us. We do not build a per-user history of your searches.

The short-lived cache described earlier is organized around the public Instagram profile being looked up, not around you as a visitor. Once it expires (within roughly 10 to 30 minutes), it is gone.

Children

StoryPeek is not intended for and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has used the service in a way that provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

Public Content and the Rights of Account Owners

StoryPeek only works with content that has been made publicly available on Instagram by the account owner. We do not access private accounts.

Please respect the rights of the people whose content you view. Content on Instagram is owned by its respective creators and may be protected by copyright and other rights. You are responsible for how you use anything you view or download, including respecting copyright, privacy, and Instagram's own terms. Do not use StoryPeek to harass, stalk, or harm anyone.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we process, including using a reputable infrastructure and security provider (Cloudflare) and minimizing what we store in the first place. Because we hold so little data, and only briefly, the risk surface is intentionally small.

No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so while we work to protect data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Users

StoryPeek may be accessed from around the world, and our service providers may process technical data in different countries. By using the service, you understand that limited technical data may be processed in jurisdictions other than your own, subject to appropriate protections offered by those providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the service, our providers, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
