DMCA & Copyright Policy

StoryPeek respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This page explains how StoryPeek works, how we respond to copyright complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and how rights holders can request action. StoryPeek is a free, no-login tool for viewing public Instagram content and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.\n\nThe fastest way to remove your own public profile from StoryPeek is the "Remove My Profile" page. You do not need to file a formal DMCA notice to opt your own account out.

How StoryPeek Works (and What We Do Not Host)

Understanding how StoryPeek functions is important to understanding what we can and cannot remove.

StoryPeek does not host, store, or save Instagram photos, videos, stories, highlights, reels, or other media on our servers. When you view content through StoryPeek, that media is streamed directly from Instagram's own servers and content delivery network (CDN). The image and video files come from Instagram's infrastructure, not ours. We act as a viewer that points your browser at content that is already publicly available on Instagram.

The only thing StoryPeek temporarily holds is a small amount of public profile metadata (such as the publicly available profile JSON), which we cache for roughly 10 to 30 minutes to keep the tool fast and to reduce load. This cache expires automatically and is not a permanent archive of anyone's content.

Because we do not host the underlying media, the most effective and permanent way to have content removed from public view is to address it at the source: through your own Instagram privacy settings or by reporting it to Instagram directly. Setting an account to private removes it from StoryPeek entirely, since StoryPeek only works with public accounts.

The Fastest Removal: Remove My Profile

If you are the owner of an Instagram account and you want your profile removed from StoryPeek, you do not need to send a formal DMCA notice. The quickest method is to use our "Remove My Profile" page.

That page lets you request that StoryPeek stop displaying your profile and clear any cached metadata associated with it. This is typically faster than the formal legal process described below and is the recommended option for handling your own account.

Keep in mind that StoryPeek only displays public accounts. If you make your Instagram account private, it can no longer be viewed through StoryPeek at all, because StoryPeek has no access to private content.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you are a copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on the owner's behalf and you believe that material accessible through StoryPeek infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice to our designated agent.

Under Section 512(c)(3) of the U.S. Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512), a valid DMCA notice must include all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of those works.

3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (for example, the specific StoryPeek URL or the Instagram username and the content in question).

4. Information reasonably sufficient to allow us to contact you, such as your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Please note that because StoryPeek does not host the media itself, in many cases the appropriate party to receive a takedown request is Instagram, which actually hosts the files. We will, however, promptly act on valid notices with respect to anything within our control, such as removing a profile from display and clearing cached metadata.

Where to Send Your Notice (Designated Agent)

Send your DMCA notice to our designated copyright agent at:

Email: dmca@storypeek.net

Please use the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice" so we can route your request quickly. Including all of the required elements listed above will help us respond without delay.

We review all properly submitted notices and aim to respond promptly. Notices that are missing required information may be returned to you so they can be corrected and resubmitted.

Misuse and False Claims

Please be aware that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.

Do not make false claims. If you are unsure whether the material is infringing, or whether you hold the necessary rights, you may wish to consult an attorney before submitting a notice. StoryPeek cannot provide legal advice.

Counter-Notice Process

If you believe that content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to our designated agent at dmca@storypeek.net.

Under Section 512(g) of the DMCA, a valid counter-notice must include all of the following:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.

2. Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before it was removed or disabled.

3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.

4. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, for any judicial district in which StoryPeek may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or that person's agent.

After we receive a valid counter-notice, we may forward it to the original complaining party. If the complaining party does not notify us within the timeframe permitted by law that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity, we may restore the affected material where appropriate and within our control.

Repeat Infringer Policy

StoryPeek has adopted a policy of addressing repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. Because StoryPeek is a free, no-login, anonymous tool and does not maintain user accounts, our primary enforcement mechanisms are blocking specific profiles or content from being displayed and clearing related cached metadata.

Where we receive repeated, valid notices concerning the same profile or material, we may permanently block that profile or content from being accessed through StoryPeek. We reserve the right to take any further action we deem appropriate to comply with applicable law and to discourage repeated infringement.

Private Accounts and Limitations

StoryPeek works only with public Instagram accounts. We do not access, display, or download content from private accounts, and the tool is not designed or intended to circumvent any privacy setting.

If a public account is switched to private, it can no longer be viewed through StoryPeek. Likewise, if content is deleted on Instagram, it will no longer be available through StoryPeek, since the media is served directly from Instagram and not stored by us.

StoryPeek is provided for viewing publicly available information. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. All trademarks, logos, and brand names are the property of their respective owners.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this DMCA and Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we make material changes, we will update the page accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

If you have questions about this policy or about a copyright matter, please contact our designated agent at dmca@storypeek.net.
